Marlborough

Whenua Awa Vineyard

High on the remote terraces of the Upper Awatere Valley, this high-altitude site sits on the fringes of grape-growing possibilities.

Whenua Awa, our Marlborough vineyard, was planted in 2002. Awa, in te reo Māori, translates to river, in tribute to the Awatere River surrounding the vineyard.

Perched 200 metres above sea level in the upper Awatere Valley, our vineyard offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Tapuae-o-Uenuku mountain. The valley's cooler, drier climate extends the growing season, while free-draining, low-fertility soil forces vines to root deeply. These conditions produce intensely flavored Sauvignon Blanc grapes with exceptional complexity and quality.

Beyond Whenua Awa Vineyard

In addition to our owned Whenua Awa vineyard, we lease other vineyards throughout the Awatere Valley and partner with select growers across Marlborough, New Zealand's most celebrated wine region. This renowned area is famous for its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc and other thriving varietals including Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
