Good Friends, Great Rosé

Good Friends, Great Rosé

Rosé isn’t a “special occasion” wine.

It’s the bottle you open when friends turn up. When the sun’s out. Or when it’s Tuesday and you feel like it. No planning needed.

This is a wine that belongs in the middle of the table. Where people help themselves. Where glasses get topped up without asking. Where things feel relaxed.

First tip: drink it cold.
Not freezing. Not warm. Just nicely chilled. Around fridge temperature is perfect. If it’s straight out of the fridge, give it a few minutes before pouring. If it’s been sitting out too long, stick it back on ice. Rosé likes a bit of care, but nothing fancy.

Now, food — this is where Tohu Nelson Rosé really comes into its own.

Think easy, share-style food. Grilled prawns with lemon. Prosciutto and melon. Roast chicken you can pull apart with your hands. Tomato salads with good olive oil and salt. It’s also great with a bit of spice — tacos, chilli prawns, anything with some heat. A dry rosé keeps things fresh and balanced.

It’s also perfect if you’re not really “doing food” — just snacks. Cheese boards (especially soft cheeses), olives, flatbreads, hummus, crisps. Whatever’s on the table, rosé usually fits right in.

In the glass, it’s light and fresh. Pale pink. Flavours of strawberry and watermelon, with a bit of citrus. Dry, crisp, and easy to drink, but not boring. The kind of wine you keep going back to.

Rosé Day is a great excuse to get a few people together, open a bottle (or two), and keep things simple. Put some food out. Turn the music up. Let the night take care of itself.

Because rosé is always better when it’s shared.
